Problems in the Diagnosis of Prostate and Bladder Biopsies This course has been designed to update practicing pathologists, residents, laboratory scientists and interested clinicians about what is new and relevant in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. During the first half day of the course, selected topics in microbiology, hematology and cytogenetics will be addressed by experienced clinical pathologists from our faculty. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of molecular diagnostic techniques in the evaluation of neoplastic disorders, infectious diseases and coagulation abnormalities. In addition, participants will hear the latest information on transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI), presented by Dr Patricia Kopko, a nationally recognized expert on this potentially fatal transfusion complication.

The second day of the program will be devoted to Anatomic Pathology issues and will include lectures on selected diagnostic problems. The program highlight will be a lecture by Dr. Robert Young entitled From Krukenberg to Today: The Ever Present Problems Posed by Metastatic Tumors in the Ovary. Interesting topics in gastrointestinal, urologic, breast, liver, molecular diagnostics and neuropathology will be discussed by sub-specialists from our faculty.

The Anatomic Pathology program will also include three microscope tutorials, GI Pathology presented by Dr. Wang and colleagues, Lung Pathology presented by Dr. Marchevsky and colleagues and Breast Pathology presented by Dr. Scharre and colleagues. The microscope tutorials are restricted to only 30 participants, who will be able to examine glass slides under the microscope and participate in highly interactive sessions.

This conference will be held at:
