Steven D. Frankel, MD

Women's Imaging, S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center; Member, Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center

Steven D. Frankel, MD is a radiologist specializing in breast imaging at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center and a member of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center.

Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Frankel was a staff member at Long Beach Memorial Breast Center; Medical Director for the Women's Imaging Center at Tower Imaging Group; Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco; and the Women's Imaging Fellowship Director for the Department of Radiology at San Francisco General Hospital.

In addition, Dr. Frankel worked as a researcher in women's imaging, including breast and gynecological cancer imaging. Currently, his main focus is patient care and management of breast cancer, streamlining breast imaging services, and breast interventional procedures. His interests also involve assessing the value of alternative imaging techniques in the workup and management of breast cancer patients, which includes PET and sentinel node imaging.

Dr. Frankel is a member of the American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Accreditation Program, American Medical Association, California Medical Association, American College of Radiology, Society of Breast Imaging and the Los Angeles Radiological Society .

Upon receiving his medical degree from the University of Southern California Medical School, where he graduated with honors, he completed his postdoctoral training at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center, San Francisco, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco where he was subsequently on staff for eight years.
