Michelle L. Melany, MD

Cross-Sectional and Women's Imaging

Michelle L. Melany, MD is an attending radiologist at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center and the Cedars-Sinai Thyroid Cancer Center. Dr. Melany is board certified in radiology and has a special interest in ultrasound, mammography, cross-sectional abdominal imaging and imaging-guided procedures. She lectures nationally on women's imaging topics.

Dr. Melany has been involved in grant-supported research to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ultrasound contrast agents. She continues to participate in grant-supported research and is a co-investigator for the Gilda Radner Cancer Detection Program at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Melany is also co-investigator for a pilot project at Cedars-Sinai to evaluate fine needle aspiration of neck masses in patients with thyroid cancer.

Dr. Melany currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Continuing Education Committee for the Los Angeles Radiological Society. She also serves as President of the Los Angeles Radiological Society's Ultrasound Section.

Dr. Melany graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, and she completed her internship at Georgetown University Medical Center and diagnostic radiology residency at Northwestern University Medical Center. Dr. Melany received specialty training in ultrasound at the University of California, San Francisco. Prior to her present position at Cedars-Sinai, she served as Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Ultrasound and Breast Imaging Divisions, and she was Chief of Ultrasound at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center.
