
Rita Hand is the Nurse Practitioner for Palliative Care Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. As part of the palliative care team she provides consultation in symptom management, advanced care planning, goals formation and end-of-life care support to patients and families in need.
Ms. Hand is an American Nurses Credentialing Center board certified nurse practitioner with a specialty in geriatrics and brings many years of nursing experience in geriatrics, critical care, hospice case management and pain management. Ms. Hand is a board certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse and ELENC (End of Life Nursing Consortium) trainer. Ms. Hand is an associate faculty instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles and has additional academic experience as an instructor in the registered nursing programs of both Santa Monica and Los Angeles Valley Colleges.
Ms. Hand received her bachelor's of science in Public Health Nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Her graduate studies were completed at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated with honors from the Nurse Practioner Program.
Ms. Hand is affiliated with the Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing, National Hospice & Palliative Care Nurses Association, National Gerontological Nursing Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals, The American College of Nurse Practioners, and California Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
