

Alicia R. Ruelaz, MD is an associate director of the Consultation-Liaison Division in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Ruelaz's primary clinical and research interests involve medical weight management and the treatment of psychiatric symptoms in the medically ill. She is a psychiatric liaison to the heart, lung and liver transplant services and is the psychiatrist for the Cedars-Sinai Center for Weight Loss. She is a member of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ruelaz has made presentations in front of many prestigious audiences, including the American Psychiatric Association. Her studies have been published in several peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, The Journal of General Internal Medicine, The Psychiatric Times, and The Psyche.
Dr. Ruelaz received her bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. She completed a psychiatry residency at Harbor-University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center and fellowship training in Psychosomatic Medicine at UCLA.
