For Patients

Being diagnosed with brain cancer or other serious brain disorders requires absorbing a lot of information while one is essentially in a state of shock.

This section is designed to help patients and families to better understand the condition and treatment, so that they can make more informed decisions and participate fully in their recovery. If you're scheduled for surgery, you'll find out what to expect, and what you'll be expected to do, before, during and after surgery. There are tips on how to cope with the diagnosis and to help others around you cope as well. You'll find out how to reach local and national groups that can provide needed support, and in our newsletters, read stories about people who have been treated successfully by our expert healthcare team.

If you are scheduled for a first appointment with the Department of Neurosurgery, please complete the
New Patient Packet and bring it with you to your appointment. Of course, if there is anything you need to know that hasn't been answered, please ask any of us at the Department of Neurosurgery.
