Diabetes is a chronic debilitating disease affecting over 21 million Americans (7 percent of the population). Its impact on the healthcare dollar (greater than 12 percent of healthcare expenditures) and the associated multi-organ and system dysfunction makes this condition a top priority on the healthcare agenda. Innovative ideas in all aspects of medicine are helping tackle the pandemic of diabesity (diabetes and obesity). New insights into diabetes pathogenesis, genetics, therapy and prevention will improve long term outcomes for patients with diabetes.
This CME program will provide physicians who treat people with diabetes a comprehensive update of what's new in the field, and the tools for managing this disease. The rapidity with which advances are being made, and the ever diminishing available time that health care professionals have to keep current, necessitates regular educational programs such as this, in which knowledge on all aspects of such a multifaceted disease will be disseminated. This course is designed to update endocrinologists, Internists; family physicians, pediatricians, and allied healthcare professionals who are involved with the care of the diabetic patient
