Allan W. Silberman, MD, PhD, FACS

Surgical Oncologist; The Robert J. and Suzanne Gottlieb Endowed Chair in Surgical Oncology

Dr. Silberman is Clinical Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at Cedars-Sinia. His clinical expertise is in gastrointestinal surgery (including colorectal, esophageal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers), breast cancer, melanoma, sarcoma, endocrine surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and anal sphincter preservation. Dr. Silberman is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has been cited in Best Doctors in America, Pacific Region.

The recipient of numerous awards and honors for his accomplishments in both research and teaching, Dr. Silberman has published extensively in peer-reviewed publications. He also co-edited the 2002 textbook, Surgical Oncology: Multidisciplinary Approach to Difficult Problems. His current research interest involves the genetic analysis of patients with multiple primary malignancies.

Dr. Silberman received his doctorate degree in biochemistry from Boston University Graduate School in 1973 and his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1975. His general surgery residency was at the Tufts-New England Medical Center Hospital in Boston. He completed his fellowship in surgical oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine.
