Katherine Facklis, MD, FACS

Chief, Division of Colorectal Surgery

Co-Director, Colorectal Cancer Program

Katherine Facklis, MD is Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Facklis is also Co-Director of Cedars-Sinai's Colorectal Cancer Program.

Dr. Facklis' main clinical and research interests are directed towards the surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and anorectal disorders. Dr. Facklis also has special interest in promoting the use of endorectal ultrasound for the staging of rectal cancer and diagnosis of anal sphincter abnormalities after obstetric and/or surgical trauma. She is also very interested in the prevention of colorectal cancer and is a big proponent of colonoscopy.

Dr. Facklis has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including chapters on anal canal tumors and anal condyloma.

Dr. Facklis received her bachelor's degree from Loyola University of Chicago and her medical degree from Rush Medical College of Chicago. She completed a general surgery internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston.

Board certified, Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery.
