Ryan F. Osborne, MD, FACS

Attending Surgeon

Ryan F. Osborne, MD is an attending surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Osborne is also an assistant professor for the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Charles R. Drew Medical Center and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Osborne has trained extensively in head and neck oncology. He completed a fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology at UCLA Medical Center. He has developed expertise in the management of all head and neck cancers including those that have failed conservative treatments. He is equally skilled in the reconstruction of large cancer defects utilizing various soft tissue flaps and prosthetics.

Having trained at the University of Göttingen, Germany, Dr. Osborne seeks to provide oncologically sound surgery using endoscopic laser techniques and organ sparing approaches whenever appropriate. In addition, Dr. Osborne uses minimally invasive techniques and cosmetic approaches in the care of patients with thyroid, parathyroid and parotid disorders.

Dr. Osborne's primary research interests include the genesis and progression of early head and neck cancers, and the development of innovative techniques and therapies for the management. He is also developing protocols for home intravenous infusion therapies for head and neck cancer patients. He has presented his findings at numerous professional conferences and in peer-reviewed publications such as Cellular and Molecular Biology and Laryngoscope. He is currently the editor of the head and neck oncology segment for the ENT Journal.

Dr. Osborne is a board certified diplomate of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and a member of the Society of University Otolaryngologists/Head and Neck Surgeons. In the continued pursuit of excellence, Dr. Osborne travels locally and internationally to study, train and practice with other head and neck surgical pioneers.
