Veriphy, the critical results reporting system, has been successfully rolled out to the CSMC medical staff, with over 45 percent enrollment. It is our goal to have 100 percent participation by year's end.

Election Ballots to be Distributed on October 22

Constitutional Amendment ballots will be sent out to the medical staff with the Vice Chief of Staff election ballots on Monday, Oct. 22. There are three specific amendments included on the ballot.

Warning Issued on Use of Viracept in Pregnant Women and Pediatric Patients

Pfizer has issued a letter to healthcare professionals to inform them of the presence of a process-related impurity, ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS), in Viracept and to provide guidance on the use of Viracept in pregnant women and pediatric patients.

7th Annual Conference Brings Experts Together in an Open Forum

Nationwide, differences of opinion among heart specialists about the effectiveness of various treatments have seemingly reached a fever pitch in the past few years. As a result, there was great interest in a recent major Cedars-Sinai symposium that brought together prominent cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other medical professionals from Cedars-Sinai and around the country to discuss and debate these differences.
The California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) held its annual meeting in conjunction with the conference. Standing (l-r) are Jack Lewin, M.D., CEO of the ACC, Ralph Brindis, M.D., chair of the ACC-National Cardiovascular Data Registry, and John G. Harold, M.D., conference co-director, ACC Governor for Southern California and president of the ACC California Chapter. Seated (l-r) are Jane Schauer, M.D., incoming chair of the ACC Board of Governors, Lianna Collinge, executive director of the ACC California Chapter, and Gordon Fung, M.D., ACC Governor for Northern California and president-elect of the ACC California Chapter.

Stefan Pulst, M.D., director of the Division of Neurology, has been named Chairman of the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Pulst will leave Cedars-Sinai at the end of December, and a farewell reception to honor him will be announced at a later date.
