The Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center is a leader in the field of restoring mobility to individuals whose joints no longer function properly. The center's multidisciplinary team of experts stay on top of the latest treatments and technological advances to help yield better results for patients. The center has developed and patented minimally invasive techniques for hip and knee surgery, which in most cases improves patient outcomes, decreases recovery time and pain, and reduces complications associated with more invasive techniques.
The program uses a unique patient-wellness concept to prepare patients for recovery before surgery. All patients and family members who are considering joint replacement surgery are encouraged to attend a free informational class prior to surgery. This class helps patients prepare their home and sets expectations for recovery. An educated patient is a patient who is more apt to recover and get back to normal life activities sooner.
Anyone with chronic pain, arthritis, or another degenerative joint disease, or who has lost mobility in the hips or knees, may be an excellent candidate for joint replacement surgery or arthroplasty (arthro = joint and plasty = new). Patients also have the option to participate in holistic practice, which may include receiving care through the Cedars-Sinai Integrative Medicine Group. Those for whom joint replacement is not recommended may benefit from physical therapy at the Cedars-Sinai Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic, which provides a full range of therapeutic services.
