Certain types of cancers and chronic diseases of adulthood have been found to have a genetic basis and may run in families. Cedars-Sinai's GenRISKŪ Adult Genetics Program provides genetic risk assessment, genetic counseling and genetic testing. Having knowledge about his or her genetic risks for inheriting disease enables a person to make better health management decisions, take action to minimize risks and know better how to manage an inherited disease should it occur.

Living with a terminal illness and/or chronic pain requires managing a patient's physical and emotional well-being. For help with their emotional well being, many patients and family members turn to counseling. It can teach them the coping skills they need to live more successfully with their pain or illness.
