Abdomen X-Ray

The role of this procedure is to evaluate the kidneys, bladder, gas pattern in the intestines (bowels) and the lower outline of the liver. These X-rays can help to find problems, including injuries that may be causing pain.

The procedure is performed with the patient lying on the exam table and also standing with arms at the sides. The technologist positions the patient correctly, locating the pelvic bones by touching the patient's sides at the waist. The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes.
