Designed by a world-renowned architectural firm, the Cedars-Sinai Outpatient Cancer Center (OCC) at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute features an award-winning design created around the special needs of cancer patients and their families. The Outpatient Cancer Center contains complete cancer services within one location and is the outpatient facility for Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. This arrangement offers the greatest convenience to patients, avoiding the need to go to many sites for medical, diagnostic or supportive cancer care. At the same time, the center allows rapid communication and teamwork between cancer specialists. Tumor Boards for many different types of cancer bring together experts from a broad range of medical specialties to review and develop treatment plans for individual cases.
Serving both children and adults, the OCC is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide a full range of cancer care services, from an initial consultation to continuing care. These services include diagnostic evaluation, multidisciplinary treatment teams, genetic cancer risk assessment, cancer prevention and hospice care.
The OCC treats close to 9,000 patients from around the United States and the world every year. Almost half of all new patients come to the center for a second opinion.
