Driving and Vision Assessment

Driving and vision assessments evaluate individuals who have had an injury or illness to see whether they can safely drive a car. Occupational therapists do a clinical evaluation of judgment, safety, awareness and reaction time. The patient then has a functional in-car evaluation, which assesses the actual driving skills of the patient in various traffic conditions.

For appointments, a doctor's written prescription is needed and may be sent by fax or mail. Prior authorization by the health plan or insurance carrier may also be needed. Patients will be called to arrange an initial evaluation within 24 hours of receiving the prescription.
