Our Expert Team
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine includes more than 30 experienced pathologists, all certified by the American Board of Pathology, many with multiple certifications in anatomic and clinical pathology, immunopathology, cytopathology, hematopathology and transfusion medicine. Twelve PhDs also can be counted. Faculty members have academic appointments at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Comprising 28 residents and fellows, our Graduate Medical Education prepares the young pathologist for the general practice of anatomic and clinical pathology.
The more than 400 employees in the laboratories include 150 clinical laboratory scientists, many of whom have special expertise and regional and national reputations. The department's active Medical Technology Program offers medical education in partnership with California State University, Dominguez Hills. Also included in our laboratory education is a state-approved Phlebotomy Certification Program.
