Cedars-Sinai Ranks Among "America's Best Hospitals"

In the 2008 U.S. News & World Report's guide to "America's Best Hospitals," Cedars-Sinai made the "Best of the Best" Honor Roll, which comprises the top hospitals ranked highly in the most number of categories. Of the more than 5,400 hospitals, only 170 were ranked in at least one specialty. Of those 170, only 19 made the Honor Roll.

Cedars-Sinai was ranked in 10 categories, including:

  • Cancer
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Geriatric Care
  • Gynecology
  • Heart and Heart Surgery
  • Kidney Disease
  • Neurology and Neurosurgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Respiratory Disorders

U.S. News and World Report's methodology to determine the rankings includes: reputational votes, expected-versus-actual mortality rate (case-mix adjusted), volume and other factors. Many of these factors use a three-year rolling average, and the newsmagazine also makes changes in its methodology each year.
