Cedars-Sinai Health System participates in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) hospital survey to measure what kind of experience patients have at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center while receiving care.
The survey was developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) -- both part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The survey is intended to provide a standard way of collecting information about patients' perspectives on hospital care.
Cedars-Sinai patients were asked to rate the care they received at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on the California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Taskforce (CHART) survey done by the National Research Corp. (NRC) and The Picker Institute using a 10-point scale, with 10 being the "best hospital possible." The graph below reflects the percentage of Cedars-Sinai patients who rated Cedars-Sinai as 9 to 10 on the scale.
These data are compared to percentage of all patients participating in the CHART surveys done by the national Research Corp., who ranked they hospitals where they received inpatient care as 9 to 10 on the same 10-point scale.

* CHART stands for California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Taskforce.
** NRC stands for National Research Corp.
A patient's willingness to recommend a medical center to friends and family is a strong indicator of how satisfied he or she was with the care given.
The graph below shows the percentage of patients who received care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center who answered "definitely yes" when asked if they would recommend Cedars-Sinai to friends and family.
These data are compared to the percentage of all patients responding to the National Research Corp.'s CHART survey who said "definitely yes" when asked if they would be willing to recommend the hospital where they received care.
