Fred S. Kuyt, MD is a urologist and clinical instructor at the Cedars-Sinai Urology Center. He also is a clinical instructor and sits on the admissions committee at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, where he was honored as best instructor of the year in 2001. Dr. Kuyt has been a full attending with the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at Cedars-Sinai since 1982. He was Chief, Division of Urology at Century City Doctors Hospital for over a decade.
Dr. Kuyt's interests and expertise in genitourinary problems covers a wide spectrum. They include urologic conditions of injured workers, treatment of both benign and malignant prostatic conditions, renal stone disease, interstitial cystitis and neurogenic bladder. A much sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, Dr. Kuyt has also published papers in such prestigious publications as the Journal of In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer and Clinical Science.
Board certified in urology, Dr. Kuyt has certifications in extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, advanced laparoscopic surgery, VLAP-Laser, Holmium laser and Da Vinci Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Kuyt earned both his bachelor's and master's of science degrees at the University of California, Los Angeles and his medical degree at the University of Southern California (USC). He completed a surgical internship at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. Dr. Kuyt completed a multi-faceted residency in urology with subspecialty training in urologic oncology, renal transplant and spinal cord disorders at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, St. Vincent's Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
