Afshin Afrashteh, MD is a Hospitalist with the Inpatient Specialty Program (ISP) at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Afrashteh’s research focuses on linking genetic markers to clinical findings in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He also compiled and analyzed an IBD patient database and created interactive, online problem solving modules for internal medicine clerkship students, highlighting common medical cases and diagnoses. He is involved in numerous volunteer activities including frequent trips to Mexico to provide medical aid to their underserved population. Prior to medical school, Dr Afrashteh did one year of AIDS research at the University of California, Los Angeles.
After graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s of science in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Afrashteh earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
