Arthur H. Cohen, MD is Director of Renal Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Cohen is also Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, Dr. Cohen specializes in renal pathology and electron microscopy and is an internationally recognized authority on renal diseases. He is actively involved with research in various areas of renal pathology, including hypertension, diabetes and transplantation.
Dr. Cohen has written numerous scientific articles for peer-reviewed publications and has authored more than 35 book chapters on the subjects of plasma cell dyscrasias and the kidneys, nephrotic syndrome, nephronophthisis and HIV-associated nephropathy. Many of his papers are regarded as landmark because of their frequency of citation. He is a member of several professional organizations, is a former president of the Renal Pathology Society and is involved in many important committees within the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. He is on the editorial board of several journals and is a frequent reviewer.
Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from State University of New York, Buffalo. He completed an internship in the Department of Medicine at Buffalo General Hospital and a pathology residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
