Conwell B. Carter, MD is Associate Clinical Chief, Obstetrics in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Carter also serves on several institutional committees including: the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Performance and Improvement Committee, the M.D./R.N. Collaborative initiative, the Well Being Committee, and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Interdisciplinary Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a diplomat with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Conwell's main clinical and research interests are teaching basic obstetrical techniques, nurse midwifery systems, global endometrial ablation, contraceptive options, patient lifestyle and stress management as a function of well being and health.

Dr. Carter also is a lecturer to the community on oral contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy. He has won several awards including the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Students Core Clerkship Teaching Award in 2007 and 2008, and the Cedars-Sinai Health Associates Patient Satisfaction Award for 2006 and 2007.

Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Carter received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the U.S. Naval Hospital, San Diego.
