Farzin Feizbakhsh, MD
Farzin Feizbakhsh, MD is a board-certified, fellowship trained surgeon at the Center for Weight Loss at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Dr. Feizbakhshs' clinical focus is in the use of gastric bypass and the gastric sleeve to help a person eat less and lose weight. He is certified in both the Realize® Band and the Lap-Band® systems, two types of laparoscopic gastric banding that use a surgically implanted device. Dr. Feizbakhsh thoroughly reviews the risks and benefits of available procedures with his patients to assist them in making informed decisions about which weight loss procedure would be best for their needs and lifestyle.
Dr. Feizbakhsh has published articles in peer-reviewed publications such as Bariatric Times. He has presented his research findings on surgical complications in bariatric patients and gastric bypass versus banding in the super-obese to the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). In addition to being a member of SAGES, Dr. Feizbakhsh is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons.
Dr. Feizbakhsh earned his bachelor's of science in chemistry and biochemistry and his master's of science in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College-School of Medicine in Valhalla, New York. He performed his internship and residency at the University of Southern California, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Feizbakhsh served as Senior Registrar in pancreatic and foregut surgery at Derriford Hospital in England, after which he performed a bariatric and minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Cedars-Sinai.
