Jeffrey F. Caren, MD

Cardiology

Jeffrey F. Caren, MD is an attending physician in the Division of Cardiology at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. Dr. Caren has been at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1980 and currently serves on the Cardiology Performance Improvement Committee and the Medicine Performance Improvement Committee. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, he served as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Critical Care at two Los Angeles community hospitals.

Dr. Caren is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. His main areas of interest are preventive cardiology and the treatment of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and cardiac rhythm abnormalities. Dr. Caren is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and serves on the board of the Beverly Hills Chapter of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. Having taught medical students continuously for more than 25 years, Dr. Caren is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine.

Dr. Caren graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in philosophy and earned his medical degree at University of California, San Francisco, Medical Center where he published extensively and earned the Dean's Prize in Research. After serving in the United States Army Medical Corp as a major, he completed a cardiology fellowship at the UCLA-West Los Angeles Veteran's Medical Center.

Dr. Caren is an avid photographer. His photographs are proudly displayed throughout Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
