Kapil Gupta, MD, MPH

Associate Director, Pancreatic and Biliary Diseases

Kapil Gupta, MD, MPH is the Associate Director of Pancreatic and Biliary Diseases in the Pancreatic Biliary Department at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with a special focus on interventional endoscopy. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Gupta was a staff physician at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine.

In addition to his extensive clinical experience, Dr Gupta’s research interests include endoscopic techniques for the treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases and therapeuctic interventions using Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). His research has been published in many peer-reviewed journals including Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Endoscopy, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology and The American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Gupta is a member of numerous professional organizations such as the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is board certified by the American Board of Gastroenterology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

After earning his bachelor’s of science and medical degree from the University College of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India, Dr. Gupta completed an internal medicine residency, earned a Masters of Public Health and completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He also completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at the University of Minnesota and Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
