Bryna Harwood, MD, MS
Bryna Harwood, MD, MS, is the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Cedars-Sinai. She is also a Family Planning specialist and is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Harwood received her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from UCLA in 1990. She earned her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago and completed her residency in OB/GYN at Kaiser San Francisco. She then completed her fellowship in Family Planning and her master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of Southern California in 2001.
Dr. Harwood was on faculty at Magee-Women’s Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh for five years and was then recruited to the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, where she served as Section Director of Family Planning and developed an excellent Family Planning Fellowship.
Dr. Harwood is a highly experienced educator and mentor with a long list of mentees, and a successful clinician scientist who has published over 25 papers and chapters. While at the University of Illinois at Chicago Dr. Harwood was awarded numerous grant awards, including, most recently, a K23 for “Contraceptive Decision-Making: Women’s Preferences for IUD-Related Health States.” Her area of clinical and research expertise is in family planning with a particular focus on contraception and management of miscarriage.
