Mamoo Nakamura, MD, FACC


Mamoo Nakamura, MD, FACC, is a staff Cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. He is board-certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease. He is also board-certified with the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

As a skilled interventional cardiologist who was trained both in Japan and the United States, Dr. Nakamura performs a wide variety of catheter-based cardiovascular interventions. He is actively involved in complex coronary intervention for left main disease and chronic total occlusion, transseptal catheterization, transcatheter valve replacement/repair, and investigational treatment such as stem-cell therapy and renal denervation.

Dr. Nakamura earned his medical degree and PhD in Medical Science from the Mie University School of Medicine in Tsu, Mie, Japan. He completed his internship and residency at Okinawa Chubu Hospital and served as staff physician in the Division of Cardiology at Yamada Red Cross Hospital and Mie University Hospital. He went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and an internship and residency with the Department of Medicine at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He completed a clinical fellowship in heart failure/transplantation cardiology and a cardiology fellowship with the cardiovascular division at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Nakamura completed fellowships in interventional cardiology and advanced interventional cardiology at Cedars-Sinai.

Dr. Nakamura has served as manuscript reviewer for the American Journal of Cardiology and the Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals. He co-authored numerous book chapters, abstracts, and articles which have appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions and the American Journal of Cardiology.

Dr. Nakamura is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
