Abraham U. Waks, MD
Abraham Uzi Waks, MD is a board-certified internist and nephrologist with Cedars-Sinai Health Associates. Dr. Waks is certified as a specialist in clinical hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension, one of about 700 physicians nationwide.
Dr. Waks graduated from Hadassah Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He specialized in Internal Medicine at Tel Hashomer (Sheba Medical Center) in Israel. Dr. Waks was appointed as Chief of Internal Medicine and Hospital Medical Director of Poriya Government Hospital in Tiberias, Israel. He taught at Tel Aviv Medical School.
Dr. Waks completed his fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in nephrology and hypertension. He completed his fellowship in nephrology at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. Dr. Waks spent many years performing clinical research in the field of hypertension and obesity under Dr. Morton Maxwell, a world leader in hypertension. He has published extensively in medical literature and has co-authored textbook chapters in the field of nephrology and hypertension.
Currently Dr. Waks is an Associate Clinical Professor at David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. He is currently an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center within the Division of Nephrology. Dr. Waks is the past chair of Nutritional Advisory & Support Committee, and a past member of PIC Committee Department of Medicine. He is an active member of the pharmacy and therapeutic committee and the medical safety committee.
Dr. Waks is a fellow of America College of Physicians, Member of the American Society of Hypertension, High Blood Pressure and Stroke Councils of the American Heart Association, American Society of Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology, and the American Medical Association.
