David Palestrant, MD
Neurocritical Care Intensivist
David Palestrant, MD, is a neurocritical care intensivist who directs the Neuro ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His joint appointment is with the Department of Neurosurgery, the Department of Medicine and the Department of Neurology. His primary clinical interests involve critical care neurology and stroke, and developing world neurology.
Board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine and neurology, Dr. Palestrant is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Neurocritical Care Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Palestrant has researched family conflict and withdrawal of care, heat shock proteins, MRI contrast agents and indoor air pollution. He also has written book chapters and lectured extensively on neuro-critical care topics.
Dr. Palestrant received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He completed an internship in medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and residencies in internal medicine and neurology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. He completed a neuro-critical care and stroke fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
