Endocrinologist

Magdalena Uhart, MD, is an attending physician in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, seeing patients in an inpatient setting.  

Dr. Uhart’s primary clinical interests include general endocrinology and diagnosis and treatment of adrenal and pituitary disorders. Her major research interests involve the neuroendocrine effects of substance abuse and the genetic determinants of the stress response and alcoholism.

She has won several awards, including the Endocrine Society AstraZeneca Diabetes and Metabolism Research Fellow Award, the Kenneth A. Lattman Foundation Fellow for Addiction Research Award, and the Central Society for Clinical Research K Award Grant.

Dr. Uhart is a member of numerous professional societies, including The Endocrine Society, The Pituitary Society and The Research Society on Alcoholism. She has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and book chapters. Her work has been presented at international scientific meetings. She has independent research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Uhart earned her medical degree from University of Salvador School of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she graduated with honors and completed her internal medicine residency at CEMIC University Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed both a clinical endocrinology fellowship and an endocrine research fellowship at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Prior to joining Cedars Sinai, Dr. Uhart was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins, where she still holds a faculty appointment.
