Maria Luchi Pernia, MD is a board-certified pediatrician and neonatal-perinatal physican with Pediatric Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Pernia's research interests related to neonates includes sleep disorders, sleep apnea, breathing difficulties (respiratory distress), heart rate abnormalities and other serious conditions.

In addition to being a member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Pernia is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the California Association of Neonatologists.

After graduating from St. Theresa's College in Quezon City, Philippines with an AB-BS in commerce, she earned a bachelor's in medical technology from the College of the Holy Spirit in Manila, Philippines. She then earned her medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Memorial Medical Center in Manila. Dr. Pernia's post-graduate training includes a rotating internship at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital in Manila; a rural health practice program at the Tuba Health Center in Mountain Province, Philippines; and an assistant professorship at the Department of Biochemistry at UERM in Quezon City. Her United States post-graduate training includes a rotating internship at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia; a pediatrics internship at the State University of New York, Downstate) in Brooklyn; a pediatrics residency at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco and a neonatology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai.
