Vinay Sundaram, MD, MsC, is Assistant Director of Hepatology in the Cedars-Sinai Department of Gastroenterology.
Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology, Dr. Sundaram is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Physicians, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the Southern California Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Sundaram’s clinical and research interests include all aspects of general and transplant hepatology. He has written on a variety of topics related to liver disease and has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Journal of Pediatrics, Liver Transplantation and Digestive Diseases and Sciences. He also received a National Institutes of Health grant to study pediatric acute liver failure.
Dr. Sundaram received his bachelor's degree from New York University and his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Virginia. As a gastroenterology fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr. Sundaram earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. Dr. Sundaram completed a transplant hepatology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School.
