Arthrography

Arthrography or an arthrogram is used to help physicians evaluate alterations in structure and function of a joint and help to determine the possible need for treatment, including surgery or joint replacement. The injection of a contrast material into the joint helps the radiologist see the joint more clearly under x-ray, CT or MRI. The procedure is most often used to identify abnormalities within the shoulder, wrist, hip, knee and ankle.

Thomas J. Learch, MD, Chief of Musculoskeletal Radiology, leads our team of imaging physicians, nurses and technologists who specialize in these procedures. print button
