When did the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program open?
The program opened in 2000.
How many fellows do you accept per academic year?
The program accepts one fellow per academic year.
Do you offer a 2nd-year fellowship?
The program is GME approved to accept a 2nd year fellow; however there are no plans to recruit a 2nd year fellow at this time.
When should interested candidates begin applying for a fellowship in neuroradiology?
CVs are accepted year-round.
Is there a fellowship opportunity available for the 2012 academic year?
The program is actively recruiting for the 2012 academic year. The program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and accepts matched candidates.
Are there travel opportunities to attend outside conferences?
The department is well-funded and fellows have an opportunity to attend and/or present at least one conference funded by the department. Registration, air, hotel, and food allowance are paid by the department.
Are moonlighting opportunities available?
Yes. Permission to moonlight must be approved in writing by the program director. Any hours worked are included in 80-hour duty hour limit set forth by ACGME.
How many residents are in the core program?
There are 12 residents.
What percentage of your fellows passed the Certificate of Added Qualification exam?
100% of our graduated fellows that took the CAQ passed the exam.
What are the requirements for taking the CAQ exam in neuroradiology?
Completion of the 1-year neuroradiology fellowship program (after residency) in a program accredited by the ACGME or RCPSC, and one year of practice or additional approved training, with one-third of that year spent in neuroradiology.
What are the requirements to be considered for a fellowship in neuroradiology?
Candidates must be currently enrolled in (or have completed) in a diagnostic radiology residency program accredited by the ACGME or RCPSC. Candidates who have already completed a diagnostic radiology residency must provide the program’s final evaluation attesting satisfactory completion of the program, and that the program was ACGME or RCPSC-accredited. There are no exceptions.
What is the distinction between residents and fellows in terms of clinical activities and level of responsibility?
Fellows have greater responsibility in giving protocols for imaging studies, performing advanced imaging procedures and for dictating advanced cases.
What are the Duty Hours?
The fellow works an average of 60 hours per week. The responsibilities for continuing patient care however, are not automatically discharged at a specific time.
What about call responsibilities?
all activities provide fellows with continuity of patient care experience. Neuro pager call is assigned one week each month.
