Facility and Physician Billing

Whether you receive inpatient or outpatient care through Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, you and your insurance carrier will always receive separate billings from the hospital and any physicians involved in your care.

Outpatient and Physician Office Visits

For physician office and outpatient visits, you may be more accustomed to receiving a single invoice from a physician that incorporates the facility fee into the total. For physicians located in Cedars-Sinai facilities, those costs are simply billed separately, with the physician charging only for the cost of his or her services. Combined with the Cedars-Sinai billing for use of the facility or office, the end result (bill total) will be the same.

Any physician-ordered services (such as laboratory tests, X-rays, MRIs, CTs, imaging scans or other diagnostics or procedures) may also be billed separately by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Please note that your insurance carrier will be billed directly. However, your coverage allowance for the Medical Center and physicians may vary. Since you are ultimately responsible for payment of your account, we recommend you check with your employer or your health plan prior to receiving services to ensure your coverage.

Admission to Cedars-Sinai

If you are admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an inpatient, you and your insurance company will receive bills separate from the office appointment charges. The hospital bill will include room charges, nursing care, medications, linens and other items you received during your stay.

You may also receive bills from different departments and physicians at the Medical Center, depending on the services you receive during your stay. These physicians might include surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists and others.

Annual Deductible/Co-Payment

Depending on your health insurance coverage, you may be responsible for paying an annual deductible and/or co-payment for services. Payment of these fees is due either when you are admitted to the Medical Center or at the office visit with your Cedars-Sinai physician. Unless you have made other arrangements, payment should be made by cash, check or credit card at that time.
