Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cedars-Sinai will host two events, free and open to the public, to support those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.  

Registration is required and space is limited.

Women Caring for Women Lecture

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Presented by an all-female clinician panel, the lecture will review the latest breast cancer statistics, new reconstruction options, genetics, hormone therapy and life after breast cancer.

  • Dr. Catherine Dang: “Breast Cancer in Young Women”
  • Dr. Alice Chung: “Prophylactic Mastectomies in Breast Cancer Patients”
  • Sylvia Estrada: “New Genetic Frontier: These Are Not Your Mother’s Genes.”
  • Dr. Elizabeth Kim: “Plastic Surgery: The Reconstruction Journey”
  • Sherry Goldman: “Survivorship: Thriving On the Other Side of Cancer.”

Many of these female physicians understand the struggles that patients go through as they too are mothers, wives, daughters, etc. It is a unique perspective for these women to care for women who face the same daily struggles they do.

Refreshments will be served and all participants will receive a goody bag. Parking will be validated.

Alison Crowley and Kathleen Ross-Allee of the Yoga Prescription lead a series of yoga poses, followed by guided meditation with Emilia Jimenez.
