Cancer Survivorship and Rehabilitation
We understand that life is different after a diagnosis of cancer. The effect of the disease or its treatment may present unique challenges. As part of our commitment to treating the whole patient and not just the disease, the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute is dedicated to helping cancer survivors live their lives to the fullest.
For many cancer patients, returning to "normal" life can be a difficult transition. Our Survivorship and Rehabilitation Service seeks to address the physical, psychological and information needs of cancer patients and their families as they complete their cancer treatment. The transition to survivorship care is a positive step that embraces wellness, quality of life, education, and health promotion.
Taking advantage of the talents of an interdisciplinary team, our goal is to improve the quality of life of our patients. This may include goals such as improving physical fitness, managing pain or reducing fatigue.
The service offers many different capabilities, including:
For appointments, a doctor's written prescription is needed and may be sent by fax or mail. Prior authorization by the health plan may also be needed. Patients will be called to arrange an initial evaluation within 24 hours of receiving the prescription.
