Intraoperative Fractures

Intraoperative fractures rarely occur during initial shoulder replacement surgery. The incidence increases, however, during revision arthroplasty due to weakened bone and placement of longer-stem prostheses. They may occur during exposure, implant removal, bone preparation or placement of prosthesis.
