Veriphy - A Critical Result Communication System
How Veriphy Works
creates a direct messaging channel between the S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Department and the ordering physician.
Each ordering physician chooses how they want to be notified of critical test results:
- Cell-phone text message
- Fax and/or e-mail
- Or any combination of alert devices preferred by each physician.
routes a text-alert in real-time, based on the physician's alert preferences, with a callback number and a 6-digit message I.D. This allows the ordering physician to access a voice message containing a report of the finding from the Imaging Physician who interpreted the study, in his or her own voice.
An alert might read "Critical Result sent by Dr. Pressman from the Imaging Department. Please call 888-555-1212 and enter the access code 123456 to retrieve the result."
The recommended alert devices are as follows:
- Red / Critical Result - primary device is a pager or a cell phone text message and the back up device is a fax. The first notification will be sent immediately, with subsequent notifications every 10 minutes for forty minutes. These notifications will be sent during evenings and week-ends if necessary.
- Orange / Significant Result / Wet Read - primary device is a pager or a cell phone text message and the back up device is a fax. The first notification will go out immediately, with the four following notifications at hourly intervals. These notifications will be sent during evenings and week-ends as they arise.
- Yellow / Incidental Finding - the recommended primary device is a fax or e-mail. The first notification will go out immediately, with four more notifications every five days for twenty days. These notifications will NOT go out from 6pm - 8am, or on the week-ends.
will first contact the primary device. If the message is not retrieved, the system will automatically escalate to alternative contact methods. In addition, Veriphy Support will begin making live outbound calls directly to the physician's office. If you leave a message referring calls to an alternate physician, Veriphy will contact that physician. If your answering service answers, instructions will be left with them on how to retrieve the message. If the communication is still not retrieved following escalation to the back up devices, the Imaging Department will be notified and will activate a "failsafe" procedure to ensure that the critical test results are communicated as quickly as possible.
What We Need From You
Over the course of the next several months, every physician on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will be contacted and asked to complete and return a Veriphy Profile sheet. Your timely cooperation in this important project is greatly appreciated.
