3D CT of Aorta
A volume rendering (VR) of a three-dimensional set of computed tomography (CT) images shown as a two-dimensional projection. In this case, extremely thin slices were created from the original scan and sent to a separate computer, which transformed them into these 3D images. The surgeon can then use the images to show the patient what an aortic aneurysm is, as well as aid in surgical planning. The aorta is the thick white vessel running vertically. The kidneys are the red objects.
