Neurovascular Center

The Cedars-Sinai Neurovascular Center is a multi-disciplinary center that coordinates services in neurovascular surgery, neurointervention, stroke neurology, vascular stereotactic radiosurgery, neuro-intensive care, and neurovascular medicine.

It is dedicated to treating both adult and pediatric patients who have vascular disorders affecting the brain and spinal cord.

The nationally and internationally renowned experts within the center ensure that patients receive the most advanced therapies available through comprehensive services provided at one of the top ranked hospitals in the country.

State-of-the-art 3D angiographic imaging in a new imaging suite allows interventional surgeons to more precisely diagnose and treat neurovascular problems that could not be visualized using older systems.

Under the direction of Michael Alexander, MD, center neurosurgeons treat the full range of neurovascular conditions including:

Specialists at the center also manage less common vascular problems such as spontaneous or traumatic carotid of vertebral dissections; neck or brain artery injuries due to trauma; vasculitis-related disorders of the neck and brain; epistaxis; head and neck, facial or orbital vascular malformations; pre-operative tumor embolization; venous sinus occlusion; and vertebral compression fractures.

Rapid Emergent Neurovascular Transfers

For streamlined transfer of emergent neurovascular patients, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, please call our dedicated transfer line: (888) 508-8881.

Patient Care

Many of the procedures done on both children and adults at the center can be performed using minimally invasive neurosurgery techniques.

The center takes a patient-centered approach to care. Because no two individuals respond in the same way to treatment, our multidisciplinary team of specialists provides highly individualized diagnostic and treatment services. Care is delivered in a compassionate, family-involved environment where education and psychosocial support are top priorities. Our support staff has a single goal: excellent service.

Translational Research and Clinical Trials

A unique strength of the center is the ability to translate research findings from the laboratory into clinical practice, giving patients direct and rapid access to the latest treatment alternatives. This is especially crucial for individuals with complex, neurovascular conditions who may have limited treatment options.

The physicians of the Neurovascular Center are helping to develop the latest treatment protocols and technology for the most effective, new ways to treat cerebral aneurysms, stroke and cerebral artery stenosis. To learn more about these clinical trials and device development, please click here.

Education

The faculty at the Cedars-Sinai Neurovascular Center offers a post-graduate fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery, which is fully accredited by the Society of Neurological Surgery. This is a comprehensive academic and clinical fellowship, involving the full spectrum of Endovascular Neurosurgery. To apply or learn more about the fellowship, please click here.
