Welcome from the Neurological Surgery Residency Director

It is a great privilege for me to introduce you to the Neurological Surgery Residency Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

This is an exciting time for us at Cedar-Sinai. We are embracing the challenges of providing the finest patient care while training well-rounded academic neurosurgeons who will become leaders in their field.

To this end, in addition to performing nearly 3,000 surgeries per year, our department provides an educational program that includes Neurosurgery Grand Rounds, Tumor board, Vascular, Pediatric neurosurgery/neurology conference, Spine conferences, and Journal Club. There are multiple interdisciplinary special conferences in both the clinical and basic neurosciences. In addition, we have developed a series of multidisciplinary didactic conferences that will take place monthly.

The Clinical Service is large and well rounded. All areas of neurological surgery are well represented. These included more than 1,000 intracranial and 2,000 spine and peripheral nerve procedures.

Although the clinical requirements continue to be demanding, we comply with the new regulations governing clinical training programs. The house staff is complemented by a team of physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses who assist in the care of the neurosurgical patients. The neurosurgical residents are expected to have ample time to attend conferences, be able to progress academically and be involved in the research effort. We expect outstanding performance from every resident and in return we are committed to an equally outstanding educational experience.

In the same spirit, our faculty is dedicated to providing outstanding patient care while maintaining an active research program in their area of interest.

I look forward to meeting our resident applicants.
