When you are discharged, your parking ticket will be validated in the Street Level Discharge Area. If you have parked in South Parking Lot, your parking is free. In any other Cedars-Sinai Medical Center parking lot, a reduced rate will apply.

We encourage you to talk to your physician about the kind of labor and delivery you want. You may want to discuss your medication and anesthesia options, Lamaze or Bradley methods of childbirth, fetal monitoring during labor and positions for delivery. This is a time to decide if you want family or friends with you during the labor and delivery. You can also decide who will cut the umbilical cord - you, the father, the coach or the doctor.

Your Labor and Delivery Plan

Detailed planning helps the doctor and reduces your anxiety about the birth of your child, even though unexpected situations may change your plans. Be sure to share your plan with the nurse during the early part of labor so she can establish the best possible environment for you and those who will attend the birth.

At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, you will be given the most advanced care available in maternity services. Most deliveries are without complications, but in the rare situation in which a problem occurs, enhanced care is available.

After the Baby Arrives

After delivery, you will be moved to a comfortable, private room. A nurse will take over care for both you and your baby. This is called "couplet care," and it ensures that your needs will be met. Your baby may stay in the room with you as much as you want, but if you want to rest, your baby can stay in the nursery.
