Prenatal Education Classes

At Cedars-Sinai we have a deep appreciation for the importance of partnering with our families during this special time of pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. This is an exciting time full of many changes-physical, emotional, and social.  We would like to partner with you and guide you along this journey.  We know that the more you know, the better prepared you will feel and the more confidence you will have.

 At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center our Prenatal Program offers a wide variety of interesting and informative classes. In fact, no other medical center in the Los Angeles area offers as many childbirth and parenting classes as we do.  We invite all expectant parents to attend our classes, even if they are not having their baby at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Maternity Tour

You are invited to take a tour of Cedars-Sinai's maternity unit.  Our tour offers you an opportunity to become acquainted with our facility and services, as well as to meet our staff.

Please remember that our visitor policy does not permit guests younger than 18 on the tour.

Should you be unable to attend a Maternity Tour at our facility, please feel free to go online to enjoy our virtual tour of the maternity area.  The tour provides information on where to go when you are ready to deliver and what you can typically expect when you arrive at the hospital, during your delivery, and when you are discharging from the hospital.

Preparation for Childbirth

Pre-Registration

If you are planning your delivery at Cedars-Sinai, you can complete your hospital registration well in advance of your due date. In so doing, you will need only your insurance card and any necessary insurance forms when you arrive. Pre-Admission forms are available online, from your doctor or the Cedars-Sinai admitting office.

At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, you can take advantage of a complete series of interesting and informative classes. No other medical center in the Los Angeles area offers as many childbirth and parenting classes as we do. All expectant parents are invited to attend our classes, even if you are not having your baby at Cedars-Sinai.

Additional Information

Discounted parking is provided for all classes and programs. Because class sizes are limited, advance registration is required. A confirmation letter with the date, time and location of our classes, as well as parking information, will be mailed to you within two weeks of receiving your registration. If you do not receive a response by this time, call (310) 423-5168.

Please do not bring additional children or guests to any of the programs unless otherwise specified.‌

Refund Policy

Refund requests must be received at least seven days prior to the start date of the class. Once the Prepared Childbirth Series classes have begun, refund requests will be honored only when a medical problem prevents you from attending the classes. A written note from your doctor must accompany the request. Your refund will be prorated based on the number of classes you have attended. A non-refundable processing fee of $25 applies for the Prepared Childbirth Series and a $10 fee for other classes. Please allow six to eight weeks for all refunds.

Make-up Classes and Rescheduling

Whenever possible, the staff will attempt to place you in a Prepared Childbirth Series make-up class if you are unable to attend one of the classes in your series. Classes may be rescheduled one time without a fee, as long as the request is made 48 hours prior to the start date. All future reschedules will carry a $10 processing fee. Prenatal Education reserves the right to cancel courses due to low enrollment. If the class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be able to attend another session of the same class at no additional charge or receive full refund of the course fee.
