Hematology Laboratory Service

The Hematology Laboratory studies disorders of the formed elements of the blood, including anemias, leukemias and lymphomas, employing a variety of complex study tools, including molecular methodology. The laboratory is a regional resource for the study of coagulation factors.

The full-service Hematology Laboratory is run by a knowledgeable and experienced staff of licensed medical technologists who operate automated hematology counters, automated coagulation analyzers, platelets aggregometers, an automated urinalysis chemistry instrument, a semi-automated microscopic sediment examination instrument and a semi-automated image analyzer for peripheral blood differentials.

The special Hematology Laboratory performs diagnostic tests for hemoglobinopathies and numerous supra-vital and cytochemical stains on erythrocytes and leukocytes.

Our hematology office coordinates the performance, processing and analysis of bone marrow by our staff of residents, hematopathology fellows and staff pathologists.
