Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute

Comprehensive Services for the Patient With Cancer

Because cancer takes many forms, each calling for different prevention, diagnostic and treatment techniques, the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, under the expert direction of Steven Piantadosi, MD, PhD, serves as a hub for an array of treatment programs at Cedars-Sinai. Many specific cancers also have Tumor Boards, which bring together specialists from many different areas to review and develop treatment plans for specific cases.

All cancer care programs and services at Cedars-Sinai provide comprehensive state-of-the-art medical care in a patient-focused environment. Patients and their families are important members of the team at the cancer center.

Our physicians, oncologists, radiologists, nurses, rehabilitation therapy specialists and allied health professionals work together to bring the best of their specialties to each patient's needs. They blend their knowledge and skills to develop customized cancer treatment plans for each person. Their dedication has attracted patients from almost every state in the nation and from more than 20 countries.

The Samuel Oschin Cancer Center is the institute's outpatient facility and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week because we understand that not all healthcare needs fall into business hours.

Innovation underlies the medical care provided at the cancer treatment institute. Thanks to its ongoing research, new cancer treatments and medical discoveries are introduced as quickly as they are determined to be safe and effective for patients. Ongoing clinical trials and research studies conducted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center offer renewed hope to thousands every year.

Our cancer research laboratories are headed by some of the most knowledgeable and creative minds working in medical research today. Our faculty physicians have appointments at medical schools throughout Southern California.

In the 2012-13 U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals issue, Cedars-Sinai once again ranked among America's best in Cancer.
