Measuring the Quality of Care Given to Patients with Thyroid Cancer
The Cedars-Sinai Thyroid Cancer Center continuously monitors the quality of the care that is given to patients with thyroid cancer.
Among the quality measures observed and reported at the program are:
- Physician board certification rates
- Volume and type of procedures done at the center
- Surgical complication rates
- Adequacy of central lymph node dissections
- FNA biopsy adequacy rates
Additionally, hospital wide measures include quality of care and patient satisfaction as well as:
- Nursing care
- Prevention of hospital-acquired infections
- Surgical care improvement measures such as preventing infections or blood clots after surgery
- Patient satisfaction with their hospital care
- The NRC Consumer Choice Award done by the National Research Corporation's annual Healthcare Market Guide survey
