Measuring the Quality of Care Given to Patients with Thyroid Cancer

The Cedars-Sinai Thyroid Cancer Center continuously monitors the quality of the care that is given to patients with thyroid cancer.

Among the quality measures observed and reported at the program are:

• Physician board certification rates
• Volume and type of procedures done at the center
• Surgical complication rates
• Adequacy of central lymph node dissections
• FNA biopsy adequacy rates

Additionally, hospital wide measures include quality of care and patient satisfaction as well as:

• Nursing care
• Prevention of hospital-acquired infections
• Surgical care improvement measures such as preventing infections or blood clots after surgery
• Patient satisfaction with their hospital care
• The NRC Consumer Choice Award done by the National Research Corporation's annual Healthcare Market Guide survey
