America's Best Hospitals
In the 2012-13 U.S. News & World Report's guide to America's Best Hospitals, Cedars-Sinai was named one of America’s best hospitals in 12 specialties. Of the roughly 5,000 hospitals in the U.S., fewer than 150 scored high enough to be ranked in even a single specialty.
Cedars-Sinai was ranked in 12 categories, including:
- Cancer
- Cardiology and Heart Surgery
- Diabetes and Endocrinology
- Ear, Nose and Throat
- Gastroenterology
- Geriatrics
- Gynecology
- Kidney Disease
- Neurology and Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
- Pulmonology
- Urology
U.S. News and World Report's methodology to determine the rankings includes: reputational votes, expected-versus-actual mortality rate (case-mix adjusted), volume and other factors. Many of these factors use a three-year rolling average and the news magazine also makes changes in its methodology each year.
