Wengui Yu, MD, PhD

Wengui Yu, MD, PhD is Director of Neuroscience Critical Care Unit and staff physician in the Department of Neurology and the Department of Neurosurgery. He is board certified in neurology, neurology critical care and vascular neurology.
A much sought after speaker and presenter, Dr. Yu has presented at more than 35 conferences, nationally and internationally, has published more than 30 articles in peer reviewed journals, more than 25 meeting abstracts and is the co-author of several book chapters. He is on the editorial board for Frontiers in Stroke, Chinese Journal of Stroke and Chinese Stroke Today. He serves as an ad hoc reviewer for Stroke, the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry and the Archives of Neurology.
He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurocritical Care Society, the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.
Dr. Yu earned his medical degree at the Jiangxi Medical College in Nanchang, China, a master’s of science in pharmacology from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and PUMC in China and his doctorate in experimental medicine from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After performing his internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, where he served as Chief Resident, Dr. Yu went on to complete a fellowship in neurocritical care and stroke at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Yu was the Chief, Division of Neurological Critical Care and Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas prior to joining Cedars-Sinai. He has trained numerous residents and clinical fellows.
